Maintain bio-diversity for prosperity

MSRDC has always strived to protect the biodiversity and avoid any destruction of the forest reserves of Katepurna, Karanja Sohol and Tansa forest reserves through which the Mahamarg will pass. This blog discusses the strategic decisions taken for the protection of Tansa Forest Reserve…

Tansa Forest Reserve in Thane district is one of the most important reserves in Maharashtra and falls under the Package 5 of the Mahamarg. It was noticed that the Samruddhi Mahamarg will pass through the villages that lie in the eco-sensitive zone of this reserve. Realising its importance, MSRDC initiated a survey to check the spatial extent of the wildlife reserve of this forest area.

The survey findings were discussed with the State Forest Department’s Wildlife section, which made certain key suggestions for sustainable development and conservation of bio-diversity.

Taking these suggestions into consideration along with the survey findings, MSRDC prepared a “Wildlife Conservation Plan” under the guidance of experts. This plan contains valuable advice regarding conservation of wildlife. All the documentation for the Wildlife Conservation Plan has been submitted to the Forest Department. At the same time, MSRDC has planned to construct overpasses, underpasses and viaducts without harming the environment in any way.
