Salient Features (New Townships)

  • The Government of Maharashtra has appointed Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) as the New Town Development Authority (NTDA) to execute the development of 18 townships.
  • Land required for Krishi Samruddhi Kendras will be collected through the land pooling scheme and landowners will be returned 30% of the developed land area of their total acquired land as per the government decision dated 5th July 2016.
  • The landowner will be allowed to transfer, sell, or lease the land to anyone or use the same land for business or trade.
  • As per the government decision dated January 4, 2017, financial assistance will be given to the landowner for 10 years as crop loss compensation (annuity).
  • In the case of dry land, the landowner will be given Rs 30,000 per acre annually. For seasonal rain-fed farming land, a sum of Rs 45,000 per acre will be given each year, whereas Rs. 60,000 will be given for all-season rain-fed farming land per year.
  • Suppose the landholder does not get his fair market value after 10 years of the developed non-agricultural land, in that case, the compensation for the land acquired under the current Land Acquisition Act, 2013, will be paid at a simple interest rate of 9% per annum for 10 years. The plot will be buyback by the State Government/MSRDC or an agency authorized by the State Government.
