Project Process

Progress of the project:

In the meeting of the Infrastructure subcommittee held on 30.11.2015, the following decisions were taken regarding the construction of the Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway (Samruddhi Highway).

  • Appointment of MSRDC as Implementing agency for the samruddhi project.
  • Adoption of Greenfield Alignment for the project.
  • Introduction of Land Pooling Scheme for the project.
With a view to facilitate surface traffic between Nagpur and Mumbai highways, Hon. Chief Minister announced in the Assembly on 31.07.2015, to build Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway (Samruddhi Highway).

Current Position of the project:

  1. At present 8311.15 hectare land (ROW) required for the project has been acquired and Rs. 5875.93 crore has been paid.
  2. All 5 DPR packages of the project have received environmental clearance.
  3. A total of 5 DPR packages of the project have been approved by the Forest Department.
  4. DPR Package 2 and 5 have received approval from Wildlife Conservation Department
  5. All the bidders of the project for Package1 to 16, LOA and work starting date have been given. At present, all the work in these packages are in progress.
  6. Government of Maharashtra’s Revenue and Forest Department published a Gazette notification on 14th November 2018, notifying Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway as an important project.
  7. Exemption has been given for the imposition of leviable ownership on the extraction of secondary minerals required for the project.
  8. Construction Package 1 to 13 is scheduled to be completed in 30 months and Construction Package 14 to 16 is scheduled to be completed in 36 months. Accordingly, it is planned to complete the entire work of the project by September 2022.
  9. This highway has been renamed as “Hindu Hrudaysamarat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Highway” by the government on December 22, 2019.
