During the land purchase procedure for the Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg Project, many of the landowners were left with bitter experiences due to internal disputes. Discord within a family, conflicts and arguments resulted in some matters being dragged into the court. At such times, the village communicators appointed by the MSRDC played an important role in guiding such landowners. This is a brief review of the relevant issues.
In July 2017, while on one hand the purchase of land for the Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg Scheme had commenced, on the other hand the landownersâ family disputes and arguments slowly started surfacing. On seeing their respective brothers and sisters getting fair and instant compensation in exchange of their land being used for the scheme, many of their close relatives raised objections. Consequently, there were fights in many households regarding the share and distribution of the compensation amount. Although, these fights were taking place in far and few villages, it was nevertheless necessary to address and resolve this issue. Thatâs when the village communicators stepped ahead and started a dialogue with the villagers. The communicators broadly explained the family members, the benefits of resolving these internal conflicts and coming forward to sign the documents under common consent. The close relatives and co-consenters of the landowners whose land was being purchased were made the following appeal:
- 1. To remain present with the necessary documents during the proceedings of the land deal.
- 2. To give their unconditional consent in order to avoid making rounds of courts.
- 3. To peacefully settle the amount of share receivable, if any, from the compensation amount for the said piece of land.
Post such appeal, the landowners and the concerned relatives co-operated with the MSRDC and responded positively to the purchase process. Click on the below link to know more about internal conflicts and relevant issue.
