The Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg passes through ten districts of Maharashtra

The Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg passes through ten districts of Maharashtra; interchanges are planned in each of these ten districts. Through this second and last part of this series – Interchange: The Link to Prosperity, we aim to give you detailed information about where and how the interchanges will be built in these 10 districts.

The Samruddhi Mahamarg will link Maharashtra’s 2 main cities – Nagpur and Mumbai. More than 390 towns will directly benefit and 14 districts will become the indirect beneficiaries of this Mahamarg.

The design and locations of all the interchanges in the 10 districts was completed simultaneously with the drafting of the route of the Samruddhi Mahamarg. Accordingly, six interchanges are proposed in Nagpur and Wardha in Package 1 and 8 interchanges are proposed in Amravati, Washim and Buldhana in Package 2. Jalna and Aurangabad in Package 3 will have 8 interchanges while Ahmednagar and Nashik in Package 4 will have 4 interchanges. Thane district near Mumbai in Package 5 will have 6 interchanges. Thus, a total of 30 interchanges are proposed on the Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg.

Of the 6 interchanges planned in Package 1 (Nagpur and Wardha districts), the first one will be at Shivmadka in Nagpur district. This flat and 2-storeyed cloverleaf pattern interchange will connect the Mahamarg to the National Highway 343. The second, third and fourth interchanges in Package 1 will be diamond shaped and will be built at Butibori MIDC, Seldoh-Sindhi Road and the proposed Krishi Samruddhi Kendra respectively. Through these 3 interchanges, the Samruddhi Mahamarg will be linked to Butibori MIDC and State Highway 330. The fifth and sixth interchanges in this Package will be double trumpet shaped as per plan. These two interchanges will be built at Wardha-Arvi Road and Pulgaon-Arvi Road and will connect the Mahamarg to National Highways 267 and 295 respectively.

In Package 2, all 8 interchanges will be double trumpet shaped and will be built at Dhamangaon, Nandgaon Khandeshwar, Karanja Laad, Vanoja Shelu Bazaar, Malegaon, Mehkar, Dusarbid and Sindhkhedraja. These interchanges will connect to State Highways 237, 6, 212, 197, 204, 171, 173 and 183.

The 6 interchanges in Package 3 will be at Jalna, Karmad, Savangi, Daulatabad, Lasur and Vaijapur respectively and are also proposed to be double trumpet shaped. Through these interchanges, State Highway 223, the new road connecting to Karmad, Savangi-Aurangabad Road, National Highway 211, Vaijapur-Aurangabad and Vaijapur-Gangapur Road respectively will be connected to the Samruddhi Mahamarg.

The 4 proposed interchanges in Package 4 would be diamond shaped, cloverleaf and trumpet shaped respectively. They are planned to be built at Nagar-Manmad Road, Nasik-Pune Road and Ghoti-Bhandardara Road and will connect to State Highway 10 and National Highway 50.

6 interchanges are proposed in Package 5 covering Thane district at Talegaon, Fugale, Hiv, Ras and Chinchavali at the Krishi Samruddhi Kendras and at Khutghar. Through these, several rural roads and State Highways 44 and 79 will be connected to the Samruddhi Mahamarg.

Thus, MSRDC hopes that these 30 proposed interchanges in all 5 Packages will connect as many districts as possible in the State.
